Introducing μSolis™: Representative sampling for inline PAT measurements in continuous tabletting
We are delighted to announce the launch of a new product, following a successful and intensive 2-year development cycle. The µSolis™ joins our Taso™ and Rado™ platforms to form a probe interface portfolio that, together, addresses essentially all major sampling and sample presentation challenges encountered when applying probe-based inline Process Analytical Technology (PAT) to powder processing.
There is an increasing need in the various industries involved in powder processing for inline real-time chemical composition measurements, such as moisture and blend uniformity. Especially continuous manufacturing (CM) of pharmaceutical oral solid dosage (OSD) forms and its concomitant Quality by Design (QbD) and potential for real-time release (RTR) is increasing this demand, and probe-based PAT technologies such as Near Infrared and Raman spectroscopy are being implement as key enablers.
The µSolis solves two challenges encountered when installing PAT probes directly in dense powder or granule streams:
- material flow irregularities including air gaps and pulsing lead to highly noisy spectroscopic baselines
- small PAT probe spot sizes relative to powder and granule blend heterogeneity cause non-representative sampling
µSolis achieves this through placing a sampling wheel directly into the product stream and in front of the PAT probe window. The powder/granule stream is randomly sampled and presented as a well-formed, consistent powder/granule bed to the probe for continuous measurement. As a result, a stable spectroscopic baseline is achieved, and chemical composition prediction becomes precise and accurate.
The µSolis is available for order immediately. For more information including Data Sheet go here.
